Higher container standards for your cargo
Additional Service in E-Spot

When you ship with sensitive cargo, it calls for containers that are clean, dry and in sound condition. Grade A Container offers you a higher grade of equipment that is carefully inspected against clearly defined conditional standards. 

Defined Standards

Containers are inspected at the depot before each release only when meeting our Grade A standards.

Clean and dry
Free from offensive odours
Free from previous cargo residue
Free from transferable stains
Free from insects
Watertight
Free from holes
Free from exterior ruptures or stickers​​​​​​​
Door rubber seals intact​​​​​​​
Floor intact and undamaged​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Free from patches or welded repairs​​​​​​​
Free from excessive rust
No more than five years old

The right of final interpretation for the conditional standards belongs to OOCL.

Frequently Asked Questions

Grade A Container is an additional service for FreightSmart E-Spot. It allows you to request dry containers that are inspected before release to confirm they meet a higher grade of condition standards.
You can select Grade A Container when creating your E-Spot order.
The service applies to all containers in the E-Spot order. If you only require it for selected containers, create a separate E-Spot order for those containers. The service charge is calculated per container and applies to every container in the order.
Grade A Container is available for 20GP, 40GP and 40HQ dry containers. Availability depends on your selected origin port and departure date.
Grade A Container is currently available at selected origin ports. The service is subject to equipment availability.
