Latest Situation in the Middle East Update
March 6, 2026 Business Updates

In light of the escalating situation in the Middle East and current restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, OOCL-operated vessels have been instructed to maintain a safe distance from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz areas.

Given the above, OOCL has instructed all offices to temporarily suspend the acceptance of new bookings from/to the following countries until further notice:

  • Bahrain
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Qatar
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Iraq
  • United Arab Emirates

Remarks: Asia from/to Jeddah for dry cargo is currently not included in the above booking suspension.

For cargo en route to the above-mentioned countries, customers are encouraged to contact our customer representatives and to arrange changes of destination where feasible. Meanwhile, we are assessing potential alternative discharge ports for onboard cargo, in accordance with our B/L terms and conditions, and will provide updates via our customer service channels. In the meantime, should you require any assistance or have further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact your local OOCL representative.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of OOCL.
