Ocean Freight
For the ocean freight segment of the journey, FreightSmart gives you two quotation options to meet differing needs: E-Spot offers instant pricing for General Cargo, Reefer Cargo and NOR, with space and equipment protection, while E-Quote offers quotations for all cargo types at stable prices which remain fixed for a period, generally from two weeks to one month. Whichever you select, you will receive an immediate quotation with all details listed, including applicable surcharges. You may also select mixed use of both options where appropriate.
Ordering and Booking is a two-stage process in FreightSmart. An order, covering single or multiple bookings for all or part of the specified cargo, reserves space on a specific vessel and sailing. A booking is one specific shipment booked under the order. Both steps of the process are easy to learn and master.
Inland Transportation (Inbound/Outbound)
At the beginning and end of the maritime voyage, FreightSmart offers you a range of first- and last-mile trucking options to transport your cargo to and from the origin and destination ports. The choices offered – including E-Trucking, which offers instant quotations for designated routes – take care of dealing with multiple modes and/or carriers where appropriate, freeing you from the necessity to coordinate between suppliers or manage the handover of documents. As with all FreightSmart offerings, the aim is to make the entire process flow as smoothly and efficiently as possible with minimum intervention by the customer. OOCL’s E-trucking services can also be purchased by customers independently of the ocean freight sector.
Container Pickup and Return
For customers, it is most convenient if they purchase the trucking service together with the ocean freight. This will ensure peace of mind, as everything is handled from end to end and they need not worry about container pickup and return, free time and demurrage and detention penalty charges. They simply submit the booking details, based on which OOCL will arrange to deliver an empty container to the customer’s premises (origin warehouse) according to the customer’s plan, then pick up the full container and transport it to the port of loading.
After the ocean freight voyage, the vessel arrives at the port of discharge, from which inbound trucking service is arranged to transport the container to the destination warehouse, and to return the empty container after unpacking.
